Importance Of Akshaya Tritiya

Akshaya Tritiya is the most significant time according to Hindu astrology. It is also very well-known as the Akha Trij in Gujarati or Akha Teej or Akshaya Trutiya. According to the Hindu calendar, its generally observed on the 3rd lunar day of the Hindu month Vaishakha or Baishakh in the Shukla Paksha. Akshaya Trutiya is of great importance in the Hindu culture. People buy property and gold on this day with a belief that it would last forever and improve their financial conditions. This day is also considered auspicious for conducting a wedding and starting a new business venture.

There is a belief that any auspicious work done on this day is fruitful. This day particularly does not require any auspicious time or muhurat. Hence, the charity work done on this day has its great importance. The Sun and the moon are believed to be equally bright and at their peak on this day. The malefic effects of the planets in the horoscope can be overcome by performing rituals on this auspicious day. The brightness of the sun and the moon overpowers all the malefic effects of bad planets in the horoscope. This strengthens the horoscope. Hence, Akshaya Tritiya is very auspicious in Vedic astrology.

 

The Significance Of Akshaya Tritiya

Akshaya Trutiya is an auspicious day in India that relates many mythological stories.

The most well-known story of  Akshaya Tritiya is of Lord Krishna and Sudama. Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. and Sudama, his beloved childhood friend. Sudama was a poor Brahmin. On this day, Sudama came to Lord Krishna’s royal palace to ask for financial help for the survival of his family. Sudama had nothing but a bunch of flattened rice to offer his beloved friend. Shree Krishna invited sudama and treated him like a king. Sudama, overwhelmed by the cordiality of his friend couldn’t request financial help for his family.

When Sudama reached his home, he found that his old hut transformed into a castle. He discovered his family wearing regal clothing and everything around was new and costly. Sudama realized that it was a boon from Lord Krishna, who favored him with more than the riches he could request.

Hence, Akshaya Tritiya relates to material gains and the acquisition of wealth.

 

Other Mythology stories

 

Akshay Trutiya is said to be the start of the Satyuga and Treta Yuga. On this day Lord Parasurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu was born.

Lord Shiva regarded Goddess Lakshmi and Kuber as the patrons of the wealth on Akshaya Tritiya. That is the reason for purchasing gold, silver, and other important things on this day have extraordinary centrality

The war of Mahabharata ended on this day and Ved Vyasa recited the Hindu epic Mahabharata to Lord Ganesha. 

The holy pilgrimage Badrinath reopens on Akshaya Tritiya after six months of closure post-Diwali. The journey of Char Dham also begins from this day.

 

Fasting And Donation

 

As per Hinduism and Jainism, this is the most blessed day of the year. A person who does charity, good deeds, and fasting will get its merits and good results. Anything given on this day comes back in multiples as bountiful blessings. One should do charity to poor and needy people or a worthy Brahmin at the pilgrimage or in the temples. It’s also believed that planting trees on this auspicious day gives abundant fruits.
