Poppy seeds Scrub
Mix 1 teaspoon honey in half a teaspoon of sandalwood powder and a half teaspoon of poppy seeds. Rub this on your face gently in an upwards rotating motion. This will remove the dead skin cells from your face and honey will enhance your skin with a natural glow.
Homemade Face Scrub For Dry Skin
Almond Scrub
Make a paste by grinding 4-5 almonds in water or milk and massage your face with that paste. This is a good scrub for dry skin and gives good results when done regularly. This scrub improves your skin tone, removes the facial dead skin cells, and removes blackheads as well.
Homemade Face Scrub For Oily Skin
Honey Scrub
Take 5 almonds and crush them. Mix one teaspoon of honey in this powder of almonds and apply it to your face. This scrub is very effective for oily skin.
Bran Scrub
Bran is the coating or outer skin of whole cereal grains which is easily available in the market as well as online shopping sites.
Make a paste by mixing 1 tablespoon bran, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, a pinch of turmeric powder, and rose water. Massage on your face and body with this paste with light hands in an upward circular motion. After two minutes wash your face with lukewarm water.
Rice scrub
Mash one slice of ripe papaya in two tablespoons of Rice Powder. Add lemon juice into it and make a paste. Massage with this paste and wash it with water after 5 minutes.
Alternatively, you can also use one tablespoon of lemon juice, one teaspoon of rose water, and one tablespoon of rice flour to scrub your face.
Rice powder not just lightens the color of your skin, but will also remove all the dead cells from your skin. If you have black spots on your face, then this scrub is best for you.
Split Green Gram Scrub
Mix two tablespoons curd in one tablespoon of Split Green gram (split moong dal) powder. Make a paste and massage your face in a circular round motion with this paste. Let dry and then wash it off with plain water.

Gram Flour (Besan) Scrub
I am sure everyone knows about this old and well-known remedy from grandmother’s treasure box.
Make a paste by mixing two tablespoons of gram flour, one spoon of rice flour, one teaspoon turmeric, and milk. Apply this Homemade Face scrub on your face as well as body and let it dry. Wash with water 20 minutes later. This scrub will also enhance your skin tone and remove all dead cells from your skin leaving your skin smooth and shiny.
Walnut Scrub
Take 1 tablespoon walnut powder and mix two tablespoons curd in it. Mix well and form a paste. Apply this paste on your face by massaging in a circular upward motion. Let this dry and then wash it off with lukewarm water.
Alternatively, you can also make another walnut scrub using almond oil. Take 3 tablespoons of almond oil and add two tablespoons of walnut powder in it. Make a paste and apply it to your face and wash it off once dried. This scrub makes your skin clean and beautiful.
Yogurt Scrub
Yogurt is beneficial for your body as well as your skin. Vitamin B6 is found in it and it also works to accelerate blood circulation. Make yogurt paste with sugar granules, and massage it with light hands on your face. This will expel all the dead skin from your face and it will also improve blood circulation and moisture content of your face.
Sugar Scrub
This scrub is excellent for both the face and body. I am personally using this face scrub for my skin and it gives me great results.
For this, you have to take ½ cup of any oil ( coconut oil or olive oil ) and add two tablespoons of sugar in it. Massage your face and body with this mixture with light hands. You can do this before taking a bath. This scrub removes dead cells and blackheads from the skin and gives you soft, glowing, and smooth skin.
Tomato Scrub
Mix two tablespoons of sugar in 1/2 cup freshly minced tomato pulp and mix it. Massage this on your face in a circular round motion for 4-5 minutes and then wash it off after drying. By using this method at least twice a week, you will find that your skin has greatly improved in its texture.
Tomatoes not only clean your skin but also prevents premature aging of your skin.
Orange peel Scrub
Grind orange peels in a mixer and make a powder. Now add milk to this powder and use this paste to scrub your face. This face scrub will eliminate most of your skin problems.
Alternatively, you can also use lemon peel for this scrub.
Papaya Scrub
Take ripe papaya in a bowl and mash it. Add 4 to 5 tablespoons of sugar in this and mix it well. Massage your face with this papaya-sugar pulp in a circular motion. Wash the face thoroughly after scrubbing.
Aloe vera Scrub
Cut the aloe vera leaves and remove their gel. Add sugar to this gel and use it on your face as a scrub. This gel provides natural moisture to your skin by removing dead skin from your face.
Coffee Powder Scrub
Add a half teaspoon of powdered sugar to one tablespoon of coffee powder. Add one tablespoon of almond or olive oil in. Use this mixture once a week to scrub your face and body scrub. The antioxidants properties of Coffee will make your skin healthy.
Rose Petal Scrub
Mix one tablespoon rose water, one tablespoon rose petals, and two teaspoons of sandalwood powder. Apply this scrub by massaging it with light hands on your face and wash it off when it gets dry. This scrub will also improve your skin tone.
Salt Scrub
Take a teaspoon of sea salt in a vessel and add 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil in it. Slowly scrub your face with this mixture in a circular upward motion. After this wash your face with cold water.
Alternatively, you can also mix lemon juice in salt. But don’t use this recipe if you are suffering from any burns or cut on your skin. And this scrub needs to be done for 2 minutes only not more than that.
Baking soda Scrub
Take a pinch of baking soda in three tablespoons of rice flour and water mixture. Apply this mixture on your skin for 3 to 4 minutes and let it dry. Once it gets dry, wash it with plain water by massaging your face in an upward circular motion. This scrub will make your skin glowing and shiny.
Alternatively, you can also use baking soda and coconut oil mixture as a scrub. Baking soda will clean your open pores and the coconut oil will soften your skin. But remember not to use baking soda on your skin more often and longer as Baking soda is not too good to use on the skin so moderate use is recommended.
Dos and Don’ts
- Always dampen your skin first before scrubbing. Your upper skin layers can get damaged if you start scrubbing your skin dry.
- Scrubbing can make your skin sensitive to sun exposure. So always use sunscreen protection after scrubbing.
- While scrubbing, don’t be so hard on your skin using gentle hands.
- Don’t rub your hands or use any kind of cloth or sponge while scrubbing. It should only be done with hands gently.
- Remember to not exfoliate your skin more than 2 times a week.
- Before scrubbing do a deep cleaning of your skin.
- Don’t use scrub immediately after waxing.
