Easy home remedies For Menstrual Cramps to ease your menstrual cycles. Menstruation or Periods is a natural process of bleeding from the female urinary organ.   • Many women consume painkillers to get relief from this pain. This intake of painkillers can have an adverse effect on your health. Avoid painkillers and treat your period cramps with these home remedies.

 

Causes Of Menstrual Cramps

 

  • The cause of this pain is a prostaglandin. Prostaglandins, a group of lipids, are present in tissues of every human and animal. Menstrual discomfort is a result of these “Prostaglandins”. A chemical produced by the tissue lining of the uterus in a woman’s body.
  • Prostaglandins enable the urine muscle to contract. This contraction results in the pain and inflammation during periods. Severe period cramps are a result of a large number of prostaglandins.

 

Home Remedies For Menstrual Cramps

 

  • Drink boiled fennel water to ease your period cramps. For this boil 2 cup water and add two tablespoons fennel seeds to it. Boil it until the color changes. It will take 8-10 minutes. Drink this twice or thrice a day to get relief from menstrual cramps. Fennel enables proper blood circulation. It relieves the pain in the urine and pelvic areas.
  • The black mustard powder reduces the discomfort and pain during periods. Add one cup powdered black mustard to a tub of water. Soak your feet in this mustard bath when you have severe period cramps. Mustard bath improves blood circulation from private areas to down towards your feet. Or, you can apply a mustard powder pack on your stomach before a shower and keep it till it dries.
  • Taking one teaspoon of honey with a pinch of black pepper powder to it also helps in menstrual cramps. Do this 2-3 times a day.
  • Drinking one tablespoon of Aloe Vera juice twice a day is very beneficial for menstrual pain.
  • Drinking basil tea or chewing basil leaves also provides great relief from the pain.
  • Grind Cinnamon and take it along with milk or put a small piece of cinnamon in your mouth for few minutes. Repeat this few times to get relief from period cramps fast.
  • Apply lavender oil on your stomach, to get instant relief in cramps.
  • Use a hot water bag to comfort yourself and get relief from backaches and menstrual pains.
  • Taking adequate rest will also prevent menstrual cramps.

 

Dos and Don’ts

 

  • Hygiene is very important for happy periods. Change your sanitary pads or tampons every 4-6 hours to maintain your private area’s health. These days menstrual cups are available in the market. They are safe and nature-friendly.
  • Clean yourself with warm water to avoid infection, rashes, and bad odor. This will also kill bacteria. Apply antiseptic ointment when you get rashes.
  • Always have extra pads, soft towels, and hand sanitizer in your pouch. Wrap used napkins before disposing of them because they spread infection.
  • Avoid wearing tight clothes.
  • Spicy and sour food worsen the period cramp is a myth. The real reason is that sour and spicy food can upset the stomach and increase body heat. There’s no connection of spicy sour food with period cramps.
  • Avoid food containing Caffeine, dairy products, high fat, and fries.
  • Include a glass of milk or carrot juice in your breakfast.
  • Include food rich in omega-3, Vitamin-C, calcium, and fatty acid.
  • Eat fresh fruits, leafy vegetables, whole grains, walnuts, flaxseed.
  • Try to drink plenty of water during periods.
  • Immediately consult a gynecologist in case of very severe pain or excessive bleeding.

 

 

Don’t forget to pamper yourself. Don’t worry too much. It’s a normal process so relax and do what makes you happy. Doing what makes you happy will ease your pain. Periods are very natural which everyone should take positively.
